Sculpture

My sculptures explore the intricate relationship between nature, existence, and contemporary societal issues. Drawing from natural materials and inspired by found objects, these works reflect themes of life and death, environmental concerns, and the transient essence of our existence.

Futility’s Hand: Where Hope Lies Broken

This piece is not about seeking attention from tragedy—it’s my response to it. The hand you see is cast from my own, holding lead soldiers who carry a stretcher of bullet shells. It’s a physical expression of how I feel: the weight, the grief, the futility. As wars rage on—in Gaza, in Ukraine—I think constantly of the lives lost, the children suffering, and the violence that never seems to end. This sculpture is my protest, my heartbreak, and my way of trying to process the unbearable.

Fruits of Reckoning
Poseidon’s Whisper

Poseidon’s Whisper is a sculpture that embodies my exploration of the intricate relationship between humans and nature. Using a dolphin’s skeletal tail, I meticulously arranged the bones, each smaller than the last, to symbolise the delicate balance we share with the natural world. Atop this elegant structure rests a found Greek head, a nod to the rich history of mythology and our enduring connection to the sea.

The Shell and the Soul: A Journey Through Time
The Hand That Holds

That Is the Question is a sculpture that captures my reflection on the relationship between humans and the natural landscape. In this piece, I cast my hand, delicately holding a dead bee on my finger, symbolising the fragility of life and the impact of human activity on the environment. The addition of a found transparent plastic heart emphasises the emotional connection we share with nature and the inherent vulnerability of both the bee and our ecosystem. Displayed in a museum-like box, this work invites viewers to contemplate their role in preserving the delicate balance of life.

My artistic practice is an exploration of how materiality informs narrative construction. Each object collected contributes to a larger story that speaks to shared human experiences. The interplay between form and content becomes a means through which I articulate complex themes surrounding existence and connection.
